About the car
Named after the Dufourspitze, Switzerland’s highest peak, AMZ’s 17th car introduces significant innovations while building on the strong foundation of its predecessor. dufour features new M13 electric motors, each delivering 43.5kW and weighing just 2.5kg, along with SLM-printed wheel packaging for reduced weight and increased strength. The car also features topology-optimized uprights and brakes to further enhance performance and durability. A major innovation is dufour's hybrid hydraulic and mechanical mode-decoupled interlinked suspension, which offers improved grip, handling, and ride control. This system allows for an unsprung warp mode, minimizing tire load variations while minimizing weight. The powered ground effect system, with two 3 kW propellers at each sidepod exit, provides downforce even at a standstill, while the aerodynamics package receives significant refinements to ensure maximum cornering capabilities. In the driverless category, dufour upgrades its entire autonomous pipeline to ROS 2, featuring a fully integrated perception system with sensor fusion of camera and LiDAR, combined with a non-linear Model Predictive Control algorithm for highly reliable and precise autonomous driving. These advancements result in an outstanding season, with dufour winning 3 out of 4 overall victories in manual driving, 2 out of 2 in autonomous driving, and picking up numerous other trophies along the way.
